This gun also features a bust of a hound on the bottom of the frame behind the trigger. There is also a Lion’s head engraved behind the hammer. Only a handful of engraved Paterson's have vignettes. This may be the only one with two. The metal has an even gray patina. The engraving is nice and sharp. The cylinder has almost all of the scene. All numbers are matching. This gun has silver bands on both the recoil shield and the barrel. The shell carved Ivory grips are checkered. On the back strap is a silver escutcheon that has the name “Squire" On the left hand side of the barrel is the name “Lewis L. Squire N. Y." Lewis Squire was a wealthy Ship Chandler in New York City. His mansion was located at 238 East 15th Street and still stands today. It was last listed for sale for around $20 million. This is an absolutely stunning piece that is all original.
