36 Caliber 1862 Navy Colt Pocket, Very Good + to Fine Condition
Description:
This 1862 36 caliber Colt Pocket Model is a very early and scarce Civil War gun. It was made in 1862. The serial numbers all match, including the wedge and the arbor. It is very tight and the action is crisp. The bore is very shiny but it has a small amount of finely scattered erosion and pin prick residue in the grooves. The barrel address, the Colts Patent on the frame and the cylinder scene are very strong as are all the serial numbers. This gun appears to be a plum color, but when given a close look it has a large amount of blue underneath the loading lever and behind the rebated cylinder scene. Case color is somewhat muted, the strongest being on the loading lever. The grips have approximatey 90%+ original varnish remaining. The cylinder scene is also 90%+. The reason these 62 Pockets are so scarce is many of them were converted to metallic cartridges by the factory after the Civil War. This one remains in the original percussion form. A great Civil War gun.
