You have probably heard of these before. It is unusual to say the least and quite a conversation piece. I have no idea how old the case is. It looks like a large leather covered Bible measuring 14" tall and 11" wide. It is 4" deep and the top of Bible has large 6" brass cross and leather is embossed with crosses. It is made of wood and once opened, it has compartments for accessories.
Insides include; Colt 1849 original, flask, turn key, oil bottle, cap tin, brass head mallot, large 7" cross, old brass compass, old Elgin pocket watch (not working), celluloid backed pocket mirror, a little 1898 dated 2" bible, two silver painted wooden stakes with crosses, bottle of holy water and beaded rosary. Everyting in box appears to be circa 1890-1900 except the stakes and reproduction flask.
The Colt is a model 1849 , pretty standard gun with 5" barrel and all matching numbers except wedge (44759) which puts gun as mfg in 1852. Gun is tight as a drum. Finish is basically smooth clean patina free from pitting or any corrosion. No scene but all markings nice and gun has never been fussed with. Grips are exc and retain most of their original varnish. Some silver plating still on grips. Even some light colors still on hammer. Indexes perfectly. Bore is near mint with no pits or corrosion at all . Pistol sits in place in cut out of box which, once gun is removed, there is a space beneath the gun for cleaning gear (none present)
Obviously, a fantacy piece put togehter by someone but Colt is fine and total display is a real eye catcher.
If you wanted a nice 1849 Colt in a display that will really turn heads, or just to keep your house safe from Vampires, you will probably get a kick out of this ensemble.
Antique so can be shiipped direct to anywhere in the world, foreign or domestic shipping no problem.
