Colt Civilian Walker 44 Cal with Case and Accoutrements
Description: In 1847 there were approximately 1100 Walkers made by Colt. It was a massive 44 caliber, 6-shot revolver. There were 1000 military models marked A, B, C, D and E Co. and 100 civilians. Of the 1100 Walkers made only about 10% are known to have survived. The Walker is considered to be the greatest prize of any Colt collection. The civilian Walkers are the most rare of all because only 100 were built. Because of high demand and only a few surviving Walkers, some of the best gunsmiths have made very accurate copies and some of the biggest collectors own them to fill that important spot in their collection. This Walker is a tremendously accurate COPY of a civilian Walker, cased and with accoutrements. It has the correct size and style serial numbers in all the correct places, including the cylinder where it correctly appears at the end of the cylinder and not between the two panels on the side of the cylinder. The only civilian Walkers that have the serial numbers between the panels would be the Walkers built with military-refused parts. This Walker, case and accoutrements are very similar to the Danish Sea Captain Walker that recently sold for $1.8 million. I have never seen a cased Walker outfit for sale that is as accurately built as this one. It is easy to see no expense was spared in the building. It has the original-style Colt bluing and the cylinder was left in the white just as it should be. I have dealt in antiques for years and can see the case was built with antique oak wood. This is a great opportunity to own a truly impressive and amazingly accurate Walker at a fraction of the cost of an original. SOLD Antique: Yes |
