Colt Factory Conversion of an 1851 Navy Converted to .38 Caliber Centerfire. Manufactured in 1856 as a Percussion revolver on contract with the U.S. Navy converted to cartridge in the 1870’s. Gun is well-marked with inspector marks on the butt “U.S.N./J.L.H. on bottom of the butt. R.W.M. anchor on bottom of barrel. Matching numbers except cylinder number, but has correct matching number on back face of the cylinder done at time of conversion. Bore is good plus with strong rifling. Action works perfectly. Cylinder scene is 90% clear. Overall gun has a light patina. Grips are showing some wear as they were also marked with property and rack numbers. U.S. Navy conversions are hard to find and this a very nice example!
