Description:
Colt Model 1877 "Lightning: DA Revolver - Cal. .38 - 3 1/2" Bbl. - SN 108XXX(1897) - all matching numbers. Perfect bore - bright with sharp rifling - excellent action with perfect timing and lock-up in DA an SA. Metal is excellent overall with sharp markings and no rust, pitting, or corrosion, except for a minor rust spot on side of the trigger. Clear barrel address and "Colt DA .38" stamp. Barrel retains 90% blue with some thinning mostly near the muzzle - cylinder has 85% blue with some thinning - guard and backstrap have drifted to a dark gray-brown patina. Frame retains about 25% to 30% darkening case color. Grips are undamaged but show wear, especially on the right grip.- lower front edge of grips are not quite flush with the frame, but rear and upper portion are perfect fit - so, these may not be the original grips for this Colt but are totally satsfactory. Overall, a Fine to near Excellent old Colt Lightning in perfect working order.
