Description:
For sale is an antique Colt Model 1877 Lightning double action .38 in the desirable "Sheriff"s Model" configuration. This gun has been well cared for in its 140 year life and remains in very nice condition. Details are as follows:
Frame: Case colored with strong colors. 3 line patent dates
.
Barrel: 2 1/2" with etched "Colt DA 38" panel clearly visiible. Bluing is worn but still evident. Correct long checkered cylinder pin with strong bluing. Correct Colt imprint on top of the barrel. Front sight is original and untouched..
Trigger/hammer: Correct with strong nitre blue finish. Nitre bluing also strong on the hammer screw. Grip frame shows wear but also strong bluing below hammer and at the end of the triggerguard.
Cylinder: original to the gun with deep blue finish. Serial number marked to the gun.
Grips: Thick genuine mother of pearl. No chips or cracks.
Action: Tight; functions properly in both single and double action.
Serial Number: 46704 stamped on the buttstrap, triggerguard strap. bottom of frame and last 3 digits on back of cylinder
Colt letter: Indicates shipment in present configuration to Hartley & Graham/ New York on October 30, 1883.
