Description:
I am selling a 1st gen Colt SAA chambered in 45lc with a 5 1/2 barrel. This gun serials 278686 and was made in 1906. This gun was also sold to Wells Fargo & Co and letters as such with the factory letter I have obtained from Colt Archives. W.M. Ashton was the guy taking care of these orders for Wells Fargo between 1888 and 1910. This gun has traces of bluing on the barrel in tight places and some tight place around trigger guard. There is also some bluing in the cylinder flutes flutes. But the overall finish is plum or turning a plum color. The frame has some colored case coloring on the frame in front of cylinder. The gun retains its 4 clicks and locks up nicely! The bore of gun has one spot of of pitting, about a 1/3rd way down from muzzle on ejector side. With the rest of bore with strong rifling and mostly shiny. Seems to be 100% in mechanically working order. A really neat piece to own and was made during Teddy Roosevelt presidency.
