COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY 1881
Description: There are times when I hate to sell a gun , but age and lack of funds dictate that I must sell some in order to have others. This 1881 45 Colt is a very interesting piece. It shows all the signs of daily use as working gun, the barrel has been shortened to six inches probably because it was warn thru from constant holster wear, the one piece walnut grips are quite warn and the back strap has been replaced with one from an earlier (1877) piece.A good friend and Colt collectorJohnny Basset was helping me research this piece and it's connection to Pancho Villa. It seem that on 9 March 1916 there was a raid on Columbus New Mexico with 80 of the raiders being killed by the 13th Cavalry Regt. This could have been one of their guns.Sadly I never was able to learn more for Johnny was more interested in buying the gun than sharing information and we lost Johnny during the Pandemic. Insured shipping $85.00 Price: $3,200.00 Buy Now Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
