IDENTIFIED PRESENTATION KIA COLT 1849 POCKET MODEL
Description:
IDENTIFIED PRESENTATION KIA COLT 1849 POCKET MODEL. Serial #195643. Manufactured 1860. Presented and carried by Sergeant Ansel B. Kellam, Co. H 29th Mass Infantry. He enlisted 11/5/61, mustered 12/23/61. He was Killed in Action on 6/30/1862 at White Oak Swamp. The backstrap is beautifully "Presented to A.B. Kellam by Friends In Charlestown, Mass". The revolver has no original finish remaining, just a beautiful patina. The cylinder has most of the cylinder scene remaining. It was a replacement cylinder as it has a seial # of 191896, but also has the original number of the gun added probably at the time of replacement by a regimental armorer. The wedge number doesn't match. The loading lever looks like it never had a number. All other numbers match. Grips are all original finish and perfectly fit. Trigger guard and backstrap retain some original silver. Action is excellent. A seldom seen KIA Presented Revolver given to a brave soldier by his friends when he went off to war. A collector treasure for us today. KIA inscribed weapons are far more sought after than all other identified weapons. Please call 973-214-3407 with questions.
