ONE-OF-A-KIND Engraved Pair of Antique COLT SAAs
Description: ONE-OF-A-KIND Engraved Pair of Antique COLT SAAs Attributed to 19th Century Mexican Ranch Boss Here we present an exquisite Pair of Antique Fully Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolvers, made in Hartford, Connecticut. These matching revolvers feature 7-1/2 inch barrels and excellent engraving. These one-of-a-kind revolvers were brought into a gun shop back in 2001 by an elderly Mexican couple seeking to sell them, and the story is that a ranch-boss near Mexico City commissioned these two revolvers. One can only imagine the sort of man who would have been hard enough and successful enough running cattle to afford these, let alone had the panache to wear them. You will not find another pair of Colt SAAs like this. One of the most eye-catching motifs on these revolvers are the eagles that appear on both side of the grips. The eagle is posed so that its wings are at their most upright position as it comes down on its prey, effectively filling up the grip panel from top to bottom. These grips panels were cast from bronze, and in addition to the eagles have been engraved to flow with the engraved pattern on the frames. The grips also have a very distinct texturing on the background. Next, each revolver bears a series of matching medallions: a cougar on the loading gate, a buffalo on the left side of the recoil shield, and a Conestoga wagon on the top of the grip strap. These were cast, engraved, then soldered on. They appear seamless and are another unique design feature from the artist. The rest of the revolver, from the hammer, grip frame, cylinder, frame, trigger guard, barrel, and ejector rod housing, are engraved with a broad floral motif of frondlike branches melding into fleur-de-lis. The engraving was then gold washed. These Colt Single Action Armies represent true artistic craftsmanship that is difficult to fathom these days. The overall condition is fine. 85% of the gold finish remains. The engravings and markings are excellent. The bores are mostly bright with sharp rifling. The actions are excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a one of a kind brace of pistols that are every bit a work of art as they are functional tools. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches. Caliber: .45 Colt Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $15,250 #7240 SOLD Antique: Yes |
