Description: TRANSITIONAL Cartridge Open Top Revolver by COLT 1 of 6500; Nice Round Barrel Pocket Model! Here we present an antique Colt Pocket Model Cartridge Revolver in .38 Colt, made circa 1869 in Hartford, Connecticut. This revolver was originally an 1849 Pocket Model with the frame manufactured in 1869 in .31 caliber. This was a transitional time for firearms development as the Smith & Wesson held Rollin White patent had expired in 1869 and other makers were desperate to get their own versions to market. This was one of Colt’s first and would be a predecessor to the Colt Single Action Army. 6,500 of those were manufactured using converted percussion revolver parts. It still sports the classic cylinder scene of the 1849 Pockets: a stagecoach robbery holdup! This was a great marketing technique as well as a means by which Colt stymied counterfeits. The overall condition is very good. 70% of the nickel finish remains. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The walnut grip is in good condition. The bore is very good with sharp rifling.
