U.S. Colt Second Model Dragoon Percussion Revolver....LAYAWAY?

Description:
LAYAWAY?......serial #9122, .44 cal, 7 3/8” part round part octagon barrel with an oxidized bore showing some good rifling nearer the breech. The metal surfaces of this revolver have mostly toned to a dark gray and plum-brown patina showing some scattered light oxidation staining, old light pitting and some dings along the right side around the wedge. The backstrap and square-back triggerguard are a pale ocher patina showing scattered overall dings and tool marks. A couple of screws are older replacements and all original markings remain intact and quite strong, the barrel showing proper New York address and the left side frame with “M” inspector stamp, “COLT’S PATENT” and “U.S” property mark. There is a small punch mark below the serial number on the frame and the triggerguard is stamped with a “K” inspector mark. The cylinder shows no evident scene and is stamped with an “*” on the face and “P” at the rear. . The smooth walnut grip remains in good condition as-cleaned showing some scattered fine scratches, a few small handling marks and edges a little shy of the frame; there are the faintest hints of inspector cartouches visible on either side. Beyond the loading lever and cylinder, all of the remaining serialized parts are matching in proper original font including the wedge and the action is a little stiff but generally seems to function well. A salty old Second Model Dragoon with plenty of character that would make a good addition to any Colt or U.S. martial collection. S/H $25....2nd revolver ship[s FREE with this one!
