Description:
Rare US Government buy back revolver. Barrel shortened to 4 13/16. Embellished with 1 Piece Ivory grips. Engraved possibly by one of the Master engravers apprentices. When Colt got these back they would embellish them for resale.
It's possible this went to Wolfe and Klar. But engraving actually looks too good for that.
mall this is conjecture. But US buybacks are rare
Anyway. To make a long story longer. It is a rare gun and in excellent condition. Action solid, very nice fitting 1 piece Ivory.
This was back in the day when the government actually tried to balance a budget. If they had something they weren't using they would sell it back.
now days they just bury equipment and dump fuel.
I do take trades. actually prefer em. I'm cash flush
And not sure about the stability of government paper
