Colt Model of 1917 With Holster and Clips
Description: A super clean Colt Model of 1917 produced during 1918 in .45 ACP. This revolver was in all liklihood issued in WW1, then sent to storage where it stayed unitl the beginning of WW2. At the beginning of WW2, many of these revolvers were removed from storage and parkerized as was this one, then issued again making this Colt at least a two war horse. All markings are strong, as are the lands and grooves of the mirror bore. Serial number of crane matches that on the frame. The serial number on the butt is the serial number of the weapon and is not suppose to match the ones on the crane and frame. Action is smooth with tight lock up and perfect timing. There is a serial number marked in pencil on the inside of the left grip panel but does not appear to match the serial number of the revolver. The grips were probably put on during arsenal rebuild. Grips are perfect with no cracks or chips. The date of MAY 1961 appears in pencil on the inside of the left grip. I have no idea of what significance this date would be. This Colt comes with two full moon clips and two half moon clips which enables ejection of spent cartridges. It can also be fired without clips but the empty brass must be punched out with a dowell, rod or stick. Also included is an original holster in fair to good condition with a minor repair patch and marked 1917 on the back with plug and ring intact. Shipping 35.00.
