Colt Single Action SAA 1st Gen .38 Colt 5.5” Barrel c. 1927, with Holster and Letter
Description:
The 1st generation Colt Single Action Army revolver (serial #350306) was shipped to Schoverling, Daly and Gales, New York, New York as a single gun shipment on May 27, 1927. It is in the fairly scarce .38 Colt caliber, with 5.5” barrel and two-piece, checkered Colt walnut grips. The grips have deep set forward facing Rampant Colt medallions which were only used between 1910 and 1929. This Colt shows probably 95 of its original factory blue some fading case colors. Mechanics are fine and the bore is mirror bright.
A history of Schoverling, Daly and Gales is included.
A note about .38 Colt: although originally a shorter cartridge than the .38 Special, later production guns, such as this one, had chambers reamed to accept the .39 (S&W) Special. It will also accept .38 Short and Long Colt, and .38 Colt Special.
The gun is housed in a fine condition, vintage H. H. Heiser Company, Denver, Colorado, double Mexican loop, heavy leather, carved holster with a tie down strap.
Cartridges are not included.
