Colt ~ Us Army 1903 DA ~ .38 Colt
Description: For your consideration, a Colt US Army Model 1093 DA in .38 Colt. This historically significant piece was carried by Cavalry Trooper William Ganon during the Punitive Expedition into Mexico following Pancho Villa's 1916 attack on Columbus, NM. The left frame bears the L.E.B. cipher of Colt Inspector, Leroy E. Briggs. Above this marking is that of Rinaldo A. Carr, inspector for Remington during that firm's refurbishment of this model. Of note to potential buyers, the crane does not match the rest of the numbered components, there are 5 tallies etched into the right of the barrel, and the ejector rod head is missing. Included with the piece is an album of 20+ photographs depicting garrison life during the Expedition -many of which bear hand-written notes by Trooper Ganon, digital enlargements of 9 of these photos, a craft holster -possibly theater-made, a DVD copy of the Vernon Williams documentary, "Patton and Pancho: A Clash of Cultures," and a 9/18/01 dated copy of Military Classics Magazine which contains an article entitled, "Chasing Villa." .38 Colt SOLD Chambers: 6 Metal Condition: Good Wood Condition: Good Bore Condition: Very Good Barrels: 6 Triggers: Smooth Bow Weight: 2 lbs Sights: Iron Sights Chokes: N/A Item Location: Hamburg, PA |
