VERY FINE U.S. Colt 1909 Army Revolver in .45 Colt
Description: VERY FINE U.S. Colt 1909 Army Revolver in .45 Colt W Holster, Belt and U.S. Army First Aid Packet! Here we present a U.S. Colt Model 1909 Army Revolver in .45 Colt, made in 1911 in Hartford, Connecticut. Only 20,000 were made. This revolver was the last military-issued revolver chambered in .45 Colt as the U.S. moved to the .45 ACP. This revolver was a large, 6-shot, double action sidearm that would be adopted to replace the Colt New Army in .38 Colt. Used in the Philippines, the .38 fell out of favor due to the lack of stopping power. It was time for the U.S. Army to go back to the venerable .45 Colt, so the Model 1909 was adopted, but not for long. In the same year this revolver was made, the U.S. adopted a legend, Colt’s Model 1911 Semi-Automatic Pistol in .45 ACP. This revolver exudes quality and craftsmanship. Both double and single action trigger pulls are very smooth and light. It is large in the hand but feels appropriate for its payload of 6 rounds of .45 Colt. The bottom of the barrel is marked “UNITED STATES PROPERTY”. The left side of the barrel has “COLT D.A. 45”. The top of the barrel is marked “COLTS PT F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. USA/PAT’D AUG.5.1884 JUNE 5.1900, JULY 4. 1905”. The bottom of the grip frame is marked “U.S. ARMY MODEL 1909/NO. 42641”. The bottom of the grip panels are marked “D.F.C.” There are the inspector initials “R.A.C.” for Rinaldo A. Carr on the underside of the barrel, back of the cylinder, and on the right side of the frame. The right side of the frame, behind the cylinder also has the inspection mark “F.B.” for Maj. Frank Baker. Accompanying this gorgeous Colt revolver is a brown leather holster, gear, and an un-opened Bauer & Black first aid packet. The holster is marked “US” on the front. The back is marked “ROCK ISLAND/ARSENAL/1911/H.E.K.” H.E.K. is a recognized inspector mark from Rock Island during this period. Thegear’s buttons bear the U.S. federal eagle and the hardware is marked “MADE BY MILLS WOVEN CARTRIDGE BELT CO WORCESTER, MASS U.S.A.” The medical tin is marked “FIRST AID PACKET-US ARMY/CONTRACT NOV. 2 1916/BAUER & BLACK CHICAGO. U.S.A./TO OPEN-PULL RING/PATENT APPLIED FOR”. Overall condition of the accouterments is fine. The holster is very scarce. The overall condition is very fine. The original blue finish is about 85%. The markings are clear and legible. The serial numbers match. The walnut grips show appropriate wear and remain solid. The bore is sharp and bright. The action is excellent in both double and single action. Here is an amazing Colt 1909 in fantastic condition, along with a holster rig to complete the package! This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 5-1/2 inches. Caliber: .45 Colt Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING.
