Very Rare, Exceptional Colt Model 1909 - USMC Issued
Description: This is a beautiful, original example of a very rare Colt U.S. Marine Corps contract Model 1909 DA revolver that was manufactured in 1910. The Marine Corps purchased 1,300 New Services revolvers in the 23101-26300 serial number range from Colt through the Navy Department beginning in May 1909. In addition to the "U.S.M.C." markings, the Marine Model 1909 revolvers had a narrower round profile butt and were fitted with checkered two-piece walnut grips. Bottom of frame is roll marked 'U.S.M.C. / No 835'. Barrel is correctly NOT marked 'UNITED STATES PROPERTY' as only the Army and Navy examples were marked this way. The original grips are hand numbered and matching inside, both numbered 25835. The grips have no cracks or chips but do appear to have a little varnish on them. The revolver has excellent bluing throughout, with a beautiful profile. Some high edge wear is visible in several areas, including on the cylinder, muzzle, top strap, etc. Excellent, shiny bore and good mechanics. Price: $10,950.00 Curio/Relic: Yes Contact Seller |
