Description:
The Colt Bisley Model revolver, named after the famous British shooting range, was the target version of the 1873 Single Action Army revolver, introduced in 1894, with a redesigned trigger, hammer, and grip frame to reduce the rolling during recoil and allow easier cocking. This example was made in 1909, cal. .38 WCF (.38/40), SN: 308303, with 7.5" blued barrel and grip, color case hardened hammer and frame. Fixed blade front sight with grooved/notch rear sight. Top of barrel with single line address "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.". Left side: "(BISLEY MODEL)" and "38 W.C.F.". Patent information and rampant Colt logo on the left side of frame. Matching serial number "308303" on the bottom of the grip, forward trigger guard, and frame. "1074" on the loading gate. Left side of trigger guardwith usual "VP" proof and "W" inspection. Matching black checkered hard rubber grips molded with Colt logo. Complete with original Colt factory letter dated August 22nd, 2016, confirming the revolver's specifications and showing shipment to the John Pritzlaff Hardware Company in 1909.
Condition:
VG+ bright original blue finish with sharp edge wear, scattered superficial dings under the barrel, and thinning/toning in usual areas of handling, principally the front and the back strap. Slight muting of the case colors on the hammer and frame. Screws and trigger retain the majority of their original fire blue with no suggestion of enhancement. Comparable condition grips with crisp checkering. Near-mirror bore. Correct manual mechanics with solid lock-up on each cylinder with slow cocking.
