ONE-OF-A-KIND COLT BISLEY SAA .357 Mag Conversion Made in 1902 & Converted to .357 Magnum
Description: ONE-OF-A-KIND COLT BISLEY SAA .357 Mag Conversion
Made in 1902 & Converted to .357 Magnum
Here we present a Colt Bisley Model Single Action Army Revolver in .357 Magnum, manufactured in Hartford, Connecticut in 1902 and converted later in its life. This is an example of the Bisley variant of the Colt Single Action Army revolver. The primary differences were a lower hammer spur and a more curvaceous grip frame. These were optimized toward target shooting but many general users and shooters who were not simply target shooters preferred them as well. Aside from the .357 chambering, this one is very interesting because of all the work that has been done to improve the sights on this revolver. Even though the Bisley Model was “optimized” for the target shooter, the sights were something that left much to be desired. This revolver was a labor of love with that vented barrel rib being crafted so that it could hold a better front sight to go with the improved and adjustable rear sight.
This is an interesting piece in many ways and is reminiscent of the days when the likes of Elmer Keith (the designer of the .357, .41 & .44 Magnums) were doing serious (and sometimes dangerous) work on these old first generation Colts to further develop cartridge and revolver technology.
The overall condition is very good plus. There is a repair to the toe of the left grip panel. The bore is in fine condition, bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent, strong and crisp.
This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
Barrel is 4-3/4 inches.
Caliber: .357 Magnum
Overall condition as seen in photos.
