WONDERFUL, PROBABLY PRE-WAR BISLEY CONVERSION TO ADJUSTABLE SIGHT TARGET MODEL, .45 COLT CALIBER, 7 ½”, MATCHING #284XXX, MADE 1906. This is a really interesting Colt that retains most of the original blue. The groove in the top strap has been very nicely milled out to accept a Pre-War Smith & Wesson adjustable target rear sight. The front sight has been replaced with a ramp with thick blade. The action has been tuned so that the cylinder locks up extremely tight with no play or end shake. Trigger pull is crisp and very light. There is some minor dulling of the blue on the grip straps only with nice original blue on the cylinder. The bore is perfect as are the screws and markings. The hammer shows some nice case colors and there is fine fire blue on the screw heads and trigger along with an excellent cylinder pin. The case colors on the frame look very dark on the sides and I’m thinking there might have been some blue put on the frame when the top strap was milled and fitted for the target sight as there is blue on the front of the frame and top strap plus loading gate. The grips show only light wear and fit perfectly. All correct markings including "BISLEY MODEL" on the barrel. This one would cost a bundle to make today…if you could even find a suitable Bisley in this condition to convert. Obviously, when this conversion was done, B isley Colts had no collector value.
