Engraved Colt Prototype Single Action Army 150th 1 of 1 Made 10 Inch Barrel
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are over the top proud to offer this spectacular prototype for the 150th year celebration for Colt firearms. Following this prototype, only 490 150th SAA's were made in 1986. Colt put a lot of effort into this gun, starting with the rare 10 inch barrel length on a black powder frame. It even has the early style bullseye ejector and dimpled base pin. Add an all blue finish and 50% coverage engraving, and you have one special gun, literally. While the regular run had serial numbers that started with AM001 on up, this one has serial number SACOLT7. Prototypes are high on the list of the serious collector, as they are the most scarce of all variations. Even cutaways easily outnumber the prototype. Despite this lofty status for the collector, Colt itself didn't treat them very well. They moved from workshop to office, to display, then storage. There are light scratches and nicks on both wood and steel. I have handled several prototypes, and they all have been in this condition. Not too distracting, but it could considered a badge of honor to be at Colt for so long, then finally rest in a high end collection. Another difference on this revolver is that it does not have the 150th year grip medallions, which were probably also in development when this gun was made. All told, these are the foundations for a sound investment. While 490 is a low production run, 1 of 1 is even better. If you have been looking for the right Single Action Army to collect or for investment, then look no further.
