Colt 1860 Army 1st Model Richards Conversion 44 Cf
Description: DESCRIPTION: Colt 1860 Army revolver, serial number 191984, made in 1871, having all of the correct 1st Model Richards conversion features, including the rear sight integral with the conversion ring, internal loading gate spring, and early style ejector rod & housing assembly. Typical features include the 8" round barrel with brass front sight & New York address, 44 cal stamped on the left side of the brass trigger guard, COLTS PATENT on the left side of the frame WITHOUT the conversion patent dates, steel back strap, walnut grips and 6 shot rebated cylinder. Serial numbers match on grip, frame, trigger guard, barrel and cylinder. Wedge is number 7409 and loading gate has assembly number 6724. Standard blued and case hardened finish with brass trigger guard. Correct cross-hatched ejector rod end. CONDITION: Barrel is a smooth, even patina with traces of blue around the protected areas by the wedge and lugs, having numerous dings and scratches and an excellent bore. Frame exhibits 20% original case colors with the balance turned a smoky patina. Brass trigger guard is uncleaned and mellowed/subdued. Steel back strap is mainly a dark gray but the first inch behind the trigger has 90% bright original blue. Action is super tight and crisp with very positive clicks on all 3 notches. Hammer retains traces of original case colors, otherwise a smoky gray. Cylinder scene is 95% and still shows a clear, crisp engagement date, COLTS PATENT marking, and last 4 digits of the serial number. Original walnut grips are slightly undersized from wear and are smooth and clean having had an excellent restoration. Grades NRA Antique Very Good and will make a great addition to your Colt collection. Have a competent gunsmith check it over if you intend to shoot it. TERMS: No international sales.
