Colt 1860 Army Thuer Conversion
Description:
Colt 1860 Army with Thuer style conversion with nickel plating and burl wood grips. Serial number 172395. It is our opinion this Colt was originally made as a percussion arm and Thuer cylinder added and nickel plated at the time of the conversion as the barrel does not have the radical Thuer cut out nor does the plunger on the rammer show tapping for use with Thuer tool. The ring and cylinder are stamped 168 on the backs and the cylinder is correctly patent marked and a genuine working Thuer cylinder that ejects. The numbers match including the wedge. 90%-95% old period nickel remains with some minor loss mostly at the muzzle. Great bore and sharp and crisp overall. The grips retain 50%-70% varnish and are very good plus to almost fine. Most of it's cylinder scene remains and nickel has that right "satin" color and is 19th century applied.
