Excellent Colt Model 1860 Richards-Mason Conversion Revolver
Description: Serial #199593, .44 CF, 8" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome Richards-Mason revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, loading gate, trigger guard, backstrap, and arbor. The cylinder number is off by one digit; "0593" instead of "9593." which is most likely a factory mistake. The barrel retains about 50-60% of the bright original blue, with the balance turned to a mellow pewter gray patina that has some hints of plum-brown at the muzzle and breech. Small impact marks are also present on and around the wedge. The frame has a mostly gray patina, but bright original color case-hardening is still present on the sides of the frame below and on both the conversion ring and recoil shield. The walnut grip has minor handling marks and surface blemishes on both sides, and also exhibits some light wear around the butt. The lock-up is as tight as a drum, and the action functions flawlessly. This is a great looking Richards-Mason Army, in excellent, seldom-seen condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes |
