VERY NEAT Antique COLT 1877 CONVERSION Revolver
Double Action Colt .22 Conversion Made in 1883
Description: VERY NEAT Antique COLT 1877 Conversion Revolver Double Action Colt .22 Conversion Made in 1883 Here we present an antique Colt Model 1877 Double Action Lightning Revolver, made in 1883 in Hartford, Connecticut, Originally in .38 Colt and converted to .22 rimfire sometime thereafter. The Model 1877 was Colt’s first venture into double action revolvers. It was quite successful, selling 166,849 from 1877 through 1909. Nonetheless, there was some hesitation to move away from the single action mechanism, which had so proven itself. Famous adopters of the Lightning were William “Billy the Kid” Bonney and John Wesley Hardin, along with “Doc” Holliday. Doc’s weapon of choice early in his western career was an 1851 Colt Navy revolver. Later, Doc carried a nickel-plated .41 caliber Colt Thunderer or the .38 caliber Colt Lightning. This .22 conversion from .38 entailed sleeving both thebarrel and the cylinder chambers. The hammer has been modified with a rimfire firing pin. The ejector housing has been modified for the caliber. The grip frame has vertical serrations added. The front sight has been modified for the caliber. Most of the original markings were retained. The whole gun has been re-blued and walnut grips added as well. It functions well! The overall condition is very good or better. The blue finish is 98%. The markings are clear. The numbers match. The grips are in great shape. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent. Here is something that you won’t find anywhere else! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 3-1/2 inches. Caliber: .22 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #190059 SOLD Antique: Yes |
