Colt 1st Model Detective Special .38 shipped to the OSS in 1944 During WWII
Description:
A very desirable Colt Detective Special .38 square butt that was shipped to the OSS during WWII. This is one of the best condition OSS guns that I have ever encountered as most have seen heavy use. It retains 97-98% of its original Colt factory bluing. The gun looks like it has not been fired but just sat for years. The original checkered walnut grips are like the day they left the factory. The gun has very slight edge wear at the muzzle and a couple of small spots on the frame along with an area on the back strap of finish discoloration. I showed this in the photo. The bore is like new and the gun locks up tight as it did when it left the factory. The gun comes with a Colt factory letter showing it being shipped to the United States Government “Office of Strategic Services”. It has the small punch dot on the rear of the frame above the cylinder release latch that the OSS placed on these to signify that it was a military issued weapon but not to draw attention to the gun by the German Military. I offer a three day non-firing inspection period and always want the buyer to be satisfied with their purchase. The gun will be packed correctly and shipped via FedEx Air with insurance to your FFL dealer in the continental United States for $55 (California is extra because I have to ship through my local dealer). This gun requires a C&R or FFL license for transfer. I ship the following day after the payment arrives and provide tracking information. Please see my other Colts and various collectible firearms that I have listed. Thanks for your interest and please let me know if you have any questions. Price is $3750.00 plus shipping. Please Note: A same as cash price Lay-A-Way plan is available on this gun. Please call to discuss.
