This is a Colt Detective Special SER# 474,883 mfg 1941 2'' original brushed blue finish, square butt ( military requested square butts) Colt letter states it was shipped to Lt.J. Duval springfield Mass.July 14 1944, shipment of 1, Letter included. U.S. Springfield Armoury was very close to this mans address. The finish is original and aprox 96%+ , there is a few scratches on the right side of the barrel near the site, some holster wear in the usual places on the cylinder, some light rubbing areas between the cylinder notches. Doesn't appear to have been shot much, locks up in single and double action SOLID. The bore and cylinder are nearly new. The grips are near perfect, back strap a faint wear front strap excellent. A prick punch as usual for a military piece is under the barrel on the flat spot. This is a interesting piece shipped to a individual in the millitary during WW2.
