**SOLD** 1976 Vintage Colt Trooper Mk.III .357 Magnum Revolver w/ 4" Barrel
** Minty All-Original Colt **
Description:
This is a very clean and beautiful all-original Colt Trooper Mark III DA/SA .357 Magnum revolver with a 4" inch barrel. This Trooper Mk.III is serial number L36406 and was manufactured in 1976. It has obviously lived a very easy life and used VERY little as it remains in excellent condition overall with perfect mechanics. The Trooper Mk.III was introduced in 1969 as a revised version of the earlier Trooper model with a redesigned lock work that required less hand-fitting than the previous model. It was offered in .22LR, .22 WMR, .357 Magnum, or .38 Special and with a 4", 6", or 8" inch barrel. It was offered in either Colt's gloss blue finish or a nickel plated finish, both of which had case colored hammers. It remained in production until 1983, at which point it was redesigned again as the Trooper Mk.V. The Colt Trooper Mk.III quickly proved to be an excellent revolver that was well-made, handsome, reliable, and accurate, despite the less hand-fitting of parts. Today these Trooper Mk.III's are sought after by shooters and collectors alike with high-condition examples like this one bringing a premium over the more used examples on the market. As mentioned earlier, this particular Colt Trooper Mk.III is chambered in the most powerful cartridge offered and is fit with the shortest barrel offered at the time. The original gloss blue factory finish rates 97% plus with the only deductions coming from an extremely faint drag-line around the cylinder (that is only visible under super-close inspection at the right angle in the right kind of light), some flash halos on the face of the cylinder around the chambers, and a very tiny little spot of finish wear on the left side of the barrel right at the muzzle. The rest of the blue finish is bright, glossy, and free from any imperfections or wear. The case colors on the hammer rate 99% like-new with no visible wear, fading, or handling marks. Both sides of the hammer show some nice bright color. All of the factory markings on this Colt are crisp, clean, and 100% visible. There are no light strikes in any of the stampings including the Rampant Colt logo on the left side of the frame. The gun is serial numbered on the frame and on the inside of the crane and it is matching. The cylinder star at the rear of the cylinder is in like-new condition and all 6 chambers are clean and free from any pitting or damage. The bore in the 4" inch barrel is mirror-bright and perfect with sharp and strong rifling throughout the barrel with ZERO visible imperfections or erosion. The front and rear sights which are finished in a matte blue to match the topstrap are in like-new condition and both the windage and elevation adjustments are in perfect working order on the rear sight. The original factory grips on this Colt are beautiful. Both sides are a perfect match to each other in every way, from color to condition. The checkering is still sharp with no visible wear or damage and both sides have perfect gold-finished Colt medallions in them. The grips fit the gun perfectly and are tight to the grip frame with no wiggle. The action on this Colt is exceptionally smooth and slick and in "perfect time" no matter how it is operated, fast or slow, double or single-action. This gun was made before the labor strikes in the early 80's when the workers were expert gunsmiths. All of the controls on this Trooper Mk.III are in perfect working order, and we have no doubt that this Colt will still function just as well today as the day it left the factory over 46 years ago. The internals are just as pristine and free from wear as the exterior. If it has had more than 25 rounds or so fired thru it in it's entire life we would be VERY surprised! If you have been looking for an investment-worthy Trooper Mk.III here is your chance to get one of the cleanest examples we have had in a long time.
