Description:
For consideration is a very nice Colt Python double action revolver chambered for .357 Magnum caliber. The Colt Python is a .357 magnum caliber revolver manufactured by Colt's Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. It was first introduced in 1955, the same year as Smith & Wesson's M29 .44 Magnum. The Colt Python is intended for the premium revolver market segment. Some firearm collectors and writers such as Jeff Cooper, Ian V. Hogg, Chuck Hawks, Leroy Thompson, Scott Wolber, Renee Smeets and Martin Dougherty have described the Python as "the finest production revolver ever made". The .357 Magnum is a smokeless powder cartridge with a 0.357 in bullet diameter. It was created by Elmer Keith, Phillip B. Sharpe, and Douglas B. Wesson of firearm manufacturers Smith & Wesson and Winchester. The .357 Magnum cartridge is notable for its highly effective terminal ballistics. This particular example is in outstanding mechanical and physical condition. This particular example is in outstanding mechanical and physical condition. The cylinder has light turn rings, the action is very smooth and lockup is outstanding. The 6" barrel is ribbed, has a full underlug and a bright bore with strong rifling. The rubber/synthetic grips are in very good condition with sharp texture and bright Colt medallions. All checkering on metal parts is very sharp and minty. This fine Colt Python would make a great addition to an existing collection or a strong start to a new collection.
