In 1908 Colt introduced a new medium frame revolver to replace the New Army & Navy models in response to Smith & Wesson's development of their new .38 Special cartridge. The new revolver used the much better action pioneered by the Colt New Pocket and New Service models and would serve as the basis for the Offical Police double action revolver. This particular revolver is in mechanically excellent condition. The cylinder lock up is tight with crisp trigger opperation. It still retains 80% of its original Colt "high polish blue" finish with wear on the high points and on the front and back straps, as well as showing wear around the muzzle. Its comes with period custom fully checkered walnut grips. The trigger also sports custom checkering. Both the barrel and cylinder are bright and the bore has sharp rifling. There are a couple of small pits on the top of the barrel.
