Antique Colt Model 1878 DA Revolver in .45 Colt Made in 1883
Description:
Serial #10543, .45 Colt, 5 1/2" barrel with a good-very good bore that has light-moderate freckling within the grooves. This is a handsome revolver, made in 1883, that retains 70-75% of the original bright nickel finish that has flaked to the underlying freckled gray steel along some of the edges, as well as within the flutes and front face of the matching numbered cylinder. Additionally, there are some spots of brown freckling on the sides of the frame and flaking at the muzzle. The hammer, trigger, and cylinder pin latch retains most of their original bright nitre blue finish, with much also remaining on the screw heads. The action lock-up is good and is fully functional in both single and double-action. The checkered hard rubber grips are in very good shape and fit quite well, with a few very minor handling marks, and moderate flattening along the rear edge of the right panel. They may not be original to the gun but they look the part. This is a fine example of a large frame DA Colt, in excellent mechanical condition, and would make a splendid addition to any collection.
