Colt Army Special .32-20 WCF Caliber Double Action **Mfg 1925 - C&R**

Description:
Here we present a C&R Colt Army Special Double Action Revolver in .32-20, made in 1925 by the Colt Manufacturing Company with a production run from 1908 through 1927 in Hartford, Connecticut. The Colt Army Special was a pistol designed by Colt to replace the various over-complicated models of Colt New Army and New Navy revolvers. It was in production from 1908 to 1927 in hopes of securing a military contract. The United States Army instead adopted the Colt M1909 New Service revolver in .45 Long Colt and later the Colt M1911 Self-Loading pistol in the .45 ACP cartridge after extensive trials. The .32-20 Winchester, also known as .32 WCF (Winchester center fire), was the first small-game lever-action cartridge that Winchester produced. It was initially introduced as a black-powder cartridge in 1882 for small-game, varmint hunting, and deer. Colt produced a single-action revolver chambered for this cartridge a few years later.
The name .32-20 refers to the 32 caliber bullet of .312-inch-diameter (7.9 mm) and standard black-powder charge of 20 grains (1.3 g). This particular example is in good overall condition and functionally is excellent. The gun has a bright bore with some rifling remaining. There is high edge and muzzle wear. The grips are generally good but one crack exists on the left side at the front of the bottom. This Colt though not perfect would be a good candidate to fill a missing niche in a collection.
