Description:
2" Colt Police Positive Special. The very first named "Detective Specials" appeared in the high 340000 serial number range in 1927. These rare "Pre-Detective Specials" first appeared in early 1926 and can be found in the 336000 to 345000 serial number range. They are the transition model between the Police Positive Special and the Detective Special. Total production figures are unknow, but estimates put them at no more than several hundred. This example is also wearing the even more scarce narrow grip frame (1 9/16") dimensions of the Police Positive Special. This pistol remains in very high condition. The finish still retains all of its deep dark shine throughout. There are virtually no detractions or signs of use. Mechanical operation is excellent with a crisp action, tight lock-up and proper cycling. The original walnut grips are in excellent condition with sharp checkering. A Colt Archive letter is included to verify the gun's original configuration. An excellent example of a rare Colt Pre-War revolver. Price includes shipping (CONUS).
