Description:
VERY FINE CONDITION NEW POCKET .32 DOUBLE ACTION REVOLVER, #28XXX, MADE 1905. The New Pocket Revolver was a round butt version of the New Police Revolver chambered for the .32 New Police cartridge (same as .32 S&W Long but loaded with a flat point bullet), and was only made from 1893-1905 when it was replaced with the Pocket Positive. This example with 3 1/2" barrel was one of the very last made as serial numbers ran from 1-about 30,000. As a limited production Colt made during the black powder era to the beginning of the smokeless years, the New Pocket is a hard Colt to find. By comparison, the similar Pocket Positive was made from 1905-1940 with 159,000 being produced. Made for concealed or "pocket carry" most of these that survive today show pretty heavy wear. This one retains nearly all the deep high polish blue with only some very minor scattered areas of brown and edge wear. Fine fire blue on the hammer back and trigger sides, exc. markings including the rampant colt on the left side of the frame with "COLT'S NEW POCKET" stamping in a circle around the horse. Excellent hard rubber grips with sharp checkering and "COLT" at the top. Tight action and bright exc. bore. Still retains the blue on the front face of the cylinder indicating that this gun was carried a little, but rarely if ever fired. A very fine and attractive example of one of Colt's most handsome small frame double action revolvers from 120 years ago.
