c1882 Antique COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER SAA .44-40 WCF Model 1873 Revolver
Black Powder Frame Single Action Army, Etched Panel Barrel
Description: c1882 Antique COLT FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER SAA .44-40 WCF Model 1873 Revolver Black Powder Frame Single Action Army, Etched Panel Barrel Here we present an antique Colt Frontier Six-Shooter Single Action Army Revolver in .44-40 WCF, manufactured in 1882 in Hartford, Connecticut. The Colt Frontier, or Frontier Six-Shooter was Colt's 1873 revolver manufactured in .44-40 Winchester caliber instead of .45 so that it was compatible with Winchester’s Model 1873 ammunition. Production began in 1877. “Colt Frontier Six-Shooter” was the actual name of the Colt pistol model, and this was acid-etched on the left side of the barrel. After 1889, the legend was roll-stamped until 1919, when the caliber designation ".44-40" was added. These revolvers made excellent companions to rifles at the time as they were chambered for the same ammunition, meaning that the user only had to keep one type to feed both guns. This one is marked “44” on the bottom of the barrel and “44 CF” on the trigger guard. “FRONTIER SIX-SHOOTER” is acid etched on the left side of the barrel. The barrel was shortened to 5-inches long ago as evidenced by the patina at the muzzle. Some tool marks can be observed. Factory nickel finish. The overall condition is good. Original nickel finish. The acid etched panel remains visible and legible. Numbers match. The hammer has good spring tension and cocking the hammer indexes the cylinder, but the trigger return/bolt spring need replacing along with the bolt screw to be functional. Grips are replacements that remain solid. Very good bore: reflective with good rifling. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .44-40 Winchester Center Fire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3500 #217836 SOLD Antique: Yes |
