The Colt New Frontier .22 is a premium, discontinued single-action rimfire revolver produced primarily throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. Scaled down to approximately 7/8 the size of Colt's legendary full-sized Single Action Army (SAA), it was designed to capture the growing "Cowboy" plinking market. The 6-inch barrel configuration chambered for .22 Magnum (.22 WMR) delivers maximum velocity, a long sight radius, and excellent small-game hunting accuracy. Thanks to its solid steel construction and 6-inch barrel length, recoil from a punchy .22 Magnum load is virtually non-existent. Because this vintage mechanism lacks a modern transfer bar, it is highly recommended to follow the classic cowboy custom: load only 5 rounds, leaving the hammer resting safely over an empty 6th chamber when carrying it .22 MAG
