Colt New Service .44-40 Revolver 5 1/2” Bbl ( PONCHO VILLA CONNECTION ? )
Description: SOLD THANKS GENE! Reduced price before going back in the safe!!!! $2,200. COLLECTORS/ STORE OWNERS *** YOU NEED THIS PISTOL FOR SHOW ! ! This pistol was manufactured no later than January 11, 1909, when it was shipped to a hardware store in St. Louis, Missouri by COLT. This is confirmed by the Colt Letter of Authenticity shown in photos. Everyone knows that St. Louis is "The Gateway To The West". PONCHO VILLA was a Mexican hero/villain depending on how you see him. A rogue Mexican General. Pancho, born in 1878 was assinated in 1923. He joined the Mexican Revolution in 1910 thru 1920 and for a few months between 1912 and 1913 was actually exiled to The United States. He made several trips to the US after his exile to meet with US Generals to get their support of his campaign's in Mexico. The reason for the history lesson is this. The back strap on this 1909 Colt .44-40 Revolver has an etched inscription "Viva Villa"! Now we can't say it belonged to Poncho. However, the life & time of this revolver is correct to have been owed by Poncho! The etching is not new. It has been on this gun forever. The holster is time correct and woven as Mexican holsters were made. Furthermore, who and for what reason would someone over the past 110 years make this etching to acknowledge/honor Villa unless he was the owner or the owner was a supporter?? In any event, this revolver is a piece of history and with more investigation could be a priceless artifact. "Poncho Villa lived by the pistol and died by it." El Passo Times July 21, 1923. PLACE THIS PISTOL IN YOUR COLLECTION OR STORE FRONT TO START CONVERSATIONS OR FOSTER SALES!
