Stunning Colt Frontier Six Shooter Etched Panel 1887 SAA Single Action Army 44-40
Description:
Guns by Sally-always the best for less. We are way proud to offer this amazing example of Colt's Single Action Army decked out with nickel plate, which may actually be silver. If you could set the time machine for 1877, this is what you might find in the upper class hardware store. The condition is wonderful, with a vivid etched panel, clear and sharp stampings, 100% nickel plate, crisp action, and very good bore. The early eagle grips are great, too. She is chambered in 44-40 WCF, and this caliber is red hot in the single action army. It is the only caliber to have a special name, and only 25% of total production were 44's. Sam Colt was smart to chamber his revolvers in Winchester rifle calibers. Cowboys loved them, because they could carry one ammo for rifle and sidearm. The barrel is the 4 3/4 inch gunfighter length, complete with the 2 line Colt address. The bore has considerable shine and distinct rifling. Not bad for a black powder era gun. Made in the year of our Lord 1887, this is made on the black powder frame, and ships direct to your door. The dimpled base pin is held in with a diagonal screw, she has the 3 line patent date, the hammer is correct, and has other correct early features. This revolver was very hard to photograph, but looks fantastic in person. A Colt research letter could really boost the value of this gun, but I don't have time to wait. Make no mistake, this is one of the finest first generation Colts I have ever offered. If you have been looking for the right first genny Colt, but want something really special, then look no further.
