Colt Double Action Revolver Model of 1877 (Lightning) .38
Description: Here is a beautiful Colt Double Action Model of 1877 .38 Lightning, accompanied by a Colt Letter of Authenticity. The story behind this revolver is that it was first sold by Colt to A. Baldwin & Co. in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 2, 1899. A. Baldwin was owner of a hardware store in New Orleans and became the first President of The First National Bank of New Orleans. It apparently was shipped to New Orleans without an ejector! Baldwin sent it back to Colt and Colt then sent it back out with a shipment of 24 guns to the C. W. Hackett Hardware Co. in St. Paul, MN., still without an ejector. The revolver has good looking IVORY GRIPS. If you know anything about ivory, you know it developed the lines you see on the grips as it ages. The grips are tight as they day they were put on originally. Colt comes with what is believed to be the original holster. Diffinately correct period holster if not original. ALL MATCHING SERIAL#s on the buttstrap, triggerguard strap, bottom of frame. The cylinder also shows the same number. The function is tight in both single and double action. Case colored with strong colors. Three line Patent date with strong bluing. All etchings are strong and visible. This revolver is all original and one that a collector of Colt vintage single and double action revolvers will appreciate and collect. While offers will be considered, this revolver is priced right for the Colt collector. Ships to lower 48 for $40. SOLD |
