"Colt Pocket Navy Conversion with 3" Barrel and Loading gate. Extremely Rare. Bruce McDowell in his book, A study of Colt Conversions, on pages 340 and 341 pictures two examples of the rare 3" barrel revolvers. He lists seven 3" revolvers known, without loading gates except for one with loading gate. McDowell states that these 3" pocket navy conversions are extremely rare. Our revolver is out of the range of the known revolvers. Ours being #5905 on the barrel and frame, cylinder, backstrap and trigger guard numbers 5965. Sixty-five numbers separating the numbered parts. We surmise this was due to using up left over parts are Colt usually did not dispose of parts but used them on later guns. Bore is excellent. Action works perfectly. Grips are excellent with 100% original varnish. Cylinder scene is perfect. Frame has approximately 80% vivid case colors. Very fine and very rare! (Dallas Location)
