"Factory Engraved Confederate ID'd Colt 1851 Navy .36 caliber (AC965)
Description: "Serial number 79280. Made in 1857. 36 caliber with a 7 ½" barrel. Nice sharp gun with an even plum patina. Engraving is nice and sharp. Serial numbers are all matching. Back strap is inscribed “Ed. P. Alsbury". Research shows Captain Alsbury served in the 3rd Texas Infantry Co. H 1st Regiment (Luckett's Regt). Edward Plummer Alsbury would enlist as a Lt. on August 1st 1861 and muster out as a Captain on May 26th 1865. Captain Asbury would go one to author a fictional book, Guy Raymond: A Story of the Texas Revolution, based on his families experiences. Captain Asbury is buried at the Hollywood Cemetery in Houston, Texas. SOLD Antique: Yes |
