Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver
Description: Colt Model 1851 Navy Fourth Model. 36 caliber 6-shot cylinder with 7 1/2" octagon barrel with attached loading lever and brass trigger guard and grip straps. One piece walnut grips. Barrel markings read ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA. The cylinder features the roll engraved cylinder scene engraved by W.L Ornnsby, New York. The condition is great overall. The firearm is mechanically functioning with the only issue being the wedge is stuck, and it is missing the original wedge screw. The engraving is masterfully done. It does not appear to be factory engraved rather period engraved in the style of Gustav Young. Areas of the revolver have aquired a light patina with the ejector and loading gate retaining the case color. The serial numbers along with the "Colts Patent" mark on the left side frame appear to have been restamped at the time of engraving. There is minor "double stamping" present in some of these areas. The grips appear to be period replacements and have minor dings from handling. The bore is excellent with sharp lands and grooves free of rust and pitting. The revolver is marked with the serial number at the barrel, frame, trigger guard, lower grip strap, and on inside top of the loading lever. Serial Number 110401 Manufactured 1861 Family Owned & Operated Cisco’s Gallery deals in the rare, exceptional, and one-of-a-kind pieces that define the history of America and the Old West.
