CLASSIC NEW SERVICE REVOLVER IN .45 COLT CALIBER WITH DESIRABLE 7 ½” BARREL, #60XXX, MADE 1914
Description: BIG, CLASSICNEW SERVICE REVOLVER IN .45 COLT CALIBER WITH DESIRABLE 7 ½” BARREL, #60XXX, MADE 1914. This is a good, solid example of one of the finest of Colt’s big bore double action revolvers. It has seen some holster/handling wear, but no abuse. All markings are sharp and clear with correct last patent date on the barrel top of 1905. The rampant colt on the left side of the frame is also distinct. The barrel shows good blue with some age-brown mixing. The front sight has not been altered. The cylinder also shows fine bright blue with some normal minor thinning that would be expected on a gun that was carried and used. The frame shows similar bright blue with some edge wear and similar light thinning. There are some very small dings/marks just above the trigger on the left side of the frame that are also minor and hardly worth mentioning. The grip straps are gray/brown with good blue on the butt and aged blue mixing brown on the bottom of the trigger guard. Lanyard swivel intact. Fine fire blue on the hammer back and trigger sides, grips may be replacements, but fit fairly well and look right. The action locks up as tight as it did when it left the Colt factory nearly 106 years ago. Bore is bright and excellent. These big Colts don’t show up often any more. Nice overall appearance.
