Colt New Service .45 Colt 7.5” Made 1915 with spare grips
Description: Back in the day, the Colt New Service revolver was a very popular firearm and versions even saw use with the U.S. before and during World War One as the M1909 and M1917 revolvers. The New Service used the largest revolver frame built up to that time and continued to be largest frame revolver until the Smith & Wesson X-frame revolvers came out in the early 2000s. The New Service, like the famous Colt Peacemaker, was offered in a variety of calibers including .38 Special, .357 Magnum, .38-40, .44 Russian, .44 Special, .44-40, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .450 Eley, .455 Eley (aka .455 Webley), and .476 Eley. It was offered in a variety of barrel lengths ranging from 2 inches to 7.5 inches. According to the Colt Serial Number Database, this New Service left the factory in 1915. It is chambered in the popular .45 Colt cartridge made famous in the Old West alongside the .44-40 by the Peacemaker. The frame has a number of scratches on it all of which have probably come from some use over the years. Much of the bluing is still in fair condition. The barrel is the full 7.5 inches in length and is the heavy, “stove-pipe” type. The forward portion of the barrel exhibits holster wear. The grips are the Fleur de Lis checkered walnut types with Colt medallions. Two thicker, smooth grips are included for those who feel that the original grips are too thin for the hand to wrap around and maintain a good grip. In contrast to the external surfaces, the bore is in excellent shape with no pitting or rust present. It would make an excellent shooter. SOLD Manufacturer: Colt's PT. F.A. Mfg. Co.
