COLT Double Action OFFICER’S MODEL “MATCH” .38 Special Cal. Revolver C&R
Nice Colt Revolver with WALNUT GRIPS!
Description: COLT Double Action OFFICER’S MODEL “MATCH” .38 Special Cal. Revolver C&R
Nice Colt Revolver with WALNUT GRIPS!
Here we present a C&R Colt Double Action Officer’s Model Match Revolver manufactured circa 1953 through 1969 in Hartford, Connecticut. Introduced in 1953, this model is very similar to Officer's Model Target Revolver. They were chambered for either a .22-caliber rimfire cartridge or in .38 Special with all having a 6" barrel. The revolver is fitted with a heavy tapered barrel, wide hammer spur, with adjustable rear sight and ramp front sight. They came standard with a checkered walnut target grips and a blued finish. This nice revolver can be fired in both double or single action.
In 1904, Colt manufactured their first medium frame double action revolver like the Colt Officer’s Model we have here. This was technically a variant of the original Colt New Army and Navy Series of 1892 to 1908. For 65 years they manufactured this handgun built on the “E” frame under several different names, one of them being the “Officer’s Model”. The Officer’s Model was the top of Colt’s revolver line as a target/match revolver until the introduction of the Colt Python in 1955 and in 1969 the Colt Officer’s Model was dropped from production.
The overall condition is fine. The action is strong and tight all the way around. Original blue has ben preserved with minor scratches on the barrel surface. Both grips are in excellent shape showcasing rampant colt emblems and sharp checkering. The bore is bright and reflective with sharp rifling. Here is a truly fine addition for the collection.
