Unique Detective Special NYPD Engraved

Description:
This revolver is in very good condition & looks like it has been used very little. As you can see it is has been owned and engraved by the NYPD for a Detective 1st Class.  The serial  number on the frame indicates it must be a Police Positive Special but later on the barrel and cylinder was changed over to a Detective Special so as to accomodate .38 special ammo..  I've read that during the war guns were scare due to the war effort and some Police Positives wert converted to Detective Specials for government use which would explain the engraving.  If anyone has any addtional information feel free to advise or comment. I am not a dealer but a small collector.  Getting old and its time to downsize.
