UNIQUE OFFERING: SPECIAL ORDER COLT OFFICERS MODEL .38 SP., COLT LETTER, 1924
Description:
UNIQUE OFFERING: ONE OF A KIND, SPECIAL ORDER COLT OFFICERS MODEL .38 SPECIAL, COLT LETTER, #515XXX, SHIPPED 1924. This amazingly rare and unusual Colt has the scarce 7 ½” barrel and NICKEL FINISH, RUBBER STOCKS AND NO CHECKERING ON THE BACKSTRAP. There can only be a handful of Officers Models made with nickel finish as standard was blue. All Officers Models have checkered back straps and triggers with checkered walnut grips. This one has no checkering on the back strap or trigger. Rear sight and front sight blade are blued. About all the bright nickel remains with only a slight cylinder line. The rubber Colt grips are numbered to a different revolver but fit well. Tight action and exc. bore. The Colt letter confirms all (the letter does not specifically state no checkering on the trigger, but that goes along with the no checkering on the backstrap). It was shipped as a one-gun shipment to Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Co., Boston, Massachusetts on February 22, 1924. Superb condition inside and out. Any special order Colt handgun is rare and this one with these unusual features has to be unique. This exact gun sold a few years ago for over $8000 (Documentation from that sale included) This really is an extremely unusual opportunity to own a one of a kind Pre-War Colt Target revolver from the Roaring ‘20s. Even the most advanced Colt collection doesn't have one like this!
