COLT “OFFICIAL POLICE” .38 Special Double Action ARMY SPECIAL C&R Revolver
“T.H.P. No. 31” Marked Butt with GRIP ADAPTER
Description: COLT “OFFICIAL POLICE” .38 Special Double Action ARMY SPECIAL C&R Revolver “T.H.P. No. 31” Marked Butt with GRIP ADAPTER Here we present a C&R Colt Official Police Double Action Revolver, made in 1930 by the Colt Manufacturing Company with a production run from 1907 through 1969 in Hartford, Connecticut with over 1,000,000 revolvers built. As the 20th Century began, the older .32 caliber revolvers which had been standard-issue for most of America’s police departments began to be phased out in favor of the larger-bore .38 caliber. In 1908 Colt introduced a sleek and modernized revolver they dubbed the “Army Special”, which in the powerful (for the time) and popular .38 Special quickly became the issue service revolver of many departments. The revolver was renamed "Colt's Official Police" in 1927 in order to better market to law enforcement agencies. It became one of the best-selling police firearms of all time, eventually in the 1950s coming to exemplify typical law enforcement officer weaponry. The Official Police was also used by various U.S. and allied military forces during World War II. The overall condition is good. Excellent action. The bore is shiny bright with nice rifling. Both grips contain an average amount of handling wear and remain firmly seated. Legible markings. “T.H.P. No. 31” is inscribed on the butt. This example has been nicely refinished. The included “Sure Grip” has a slight wiggle and is chipping at the bottom. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .38 Special Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1500 #228070 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
